HR Practice for Payroll Practitioners

Developing successful teams

For some new employees being part of a team is a new experience. It might require a different set of behaviours than they have had the chance to experience before. Induction can help in promoting the skills and behaviours to become a successful team member. Introducing the new staff member to their role and responsibilities in the team during induction will allow them to become an effective team member far quicker. To make this activity more effective it is important to have key members of the new employee’s team involved throughout induction. Setting expectations Induction is an important time to clearly and concisely get across to the new employee what the organisation’s expectations (standards) are for them to achieve in their new role. This allows for a foundation of understanding that can stop problems occurring down the track with employees because they never had a clear understanding of what they had to achieve in the first place.
