Reduce anxiety of new staff member
Starting a new job can be one of the most stressful times for an employee. A well-structured induction programme can minimise stress and anxiety. So the employee can be successful and be ready to take on their new role motivated and with a feeling of belonging towards their new organisation. Positive effects on existing staff Having positive and knowledgeable new employees can have a flow on effect on existing staff. Having an induction programme that produces employees with the basic skills for their role lets other staff concentrate on supporting the new employees in other areas (customer knowledge and advanced skills). New staff can also be used as a refreshing and positive influence on existing staff because of the external knowledge they bring to the workplace from their experiences with competitors and customers.
Having existing staff involved in the induction of new staff can be very useful in two ways:
➢ Their knowledge of business processes, procedures, customers, suppliers, etc.
➢ Being asked to help in the training of new staff can be a tremendous motivating effect on an existing staff member.
