➢ Explain why they should be involved. ➢ Brief the manager, supervisor and colleagues on their role in the induction programme. ➢ Provide training to this group (if needed). ➢ Help them in the preparation of training/presentation materials (if needed). ➢ Give feedback on their performance and delivery. ➢ Thank them for their involvement. Getting the buy-in from other staff in the organisation to be involved in the induction programme is a very important aspect in making the induction programme a success. This is because induction is the first step in developing staff to become an effective member of the organisation and to do this other staff need to have input into the process. Induction must fit with the organisation. By having other staff involved it keeps the focus of induction on producing employees that will have the right skills and behaviour to add value to the organisation when they finish induction and start in their role/position. This can only really be done when other staff are involved in the process. To overcome initial hesitation in becoming involved in the induction process there are a number of benefits of their involvement that can be promoted to other staff: ➢ For the manager or supervisor, being involved in the induction process is part of their role/position. ➢ It is a way to share their knowledge of the organisation and its processes to a new group of employees. ➢ It is recognition of their credibility and standing in the organisation to be invited to be involved. ➢ It is a development opportunity for the staff member and for them to give something back. ➢ Potentially will be seen as another step up in their career. Why they should be involved
Brief them on their role
If other staff are to be used in the induction programme brief them on their role in the induction process of the new staff member. Identify early if they will need support and plan for it. Operational staff can be very hard to nail down for this type of activity so it is
